RIBERA DEL DUERO-SPAIN
The legendary VEGA SICILIA produces Spain's greatest and most sought after red wines, the origin of the names goes back many centuries. VEGA SICILIA prides themselves in not putting their wines on the market before they are ready to drink.
The UNICO is a least 10 years old and the VALBUENA 5 years old when finally made available for sale. These are the wines that have made VEGA SICILIA famous.
They are indeed unique... fat, rich and opulent, but at the same time extraordinarily elegant. Once in bottle the aging process continues very slowly. Often the wines are not a peak when released; even after they have reached the heights of perfection, they can easily make a very fine drink for 20 to 30 years.
It is no secret that the quality of the VEGA SICILIA wines is quite outstanding. Only Sir Winston Churchill showed his ignorance at a banquet offered by the Spanish Embassy. After reflecting on a long list of wines he remarked: "My vote goes to the unknow Claret!".

o pus One is the first truly international wine, made by joint venture of the Robert Mondaví Winery of Napa Valley and Chateau Mouton Rothschild of Pauillac. It combines the viticulture and wine making experience of both wineries.
Together, they determined to grow and produce world class wine in the Napa Valley
Using the combination of classic Bordelais techniques and current California technology.
Opus One is blended in the classic Bordelais tradition. It is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with varying amounts of Cabernet Franc and Merlot included for complexity and balance. Winemaker, Tim Mondavi, and his counterpart at Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Patrick Leon are the joint creators of Opus One. Patrick and Tim insist that each new vintage be aged in new French oak barrels. The special barrels used are identical to those used in the First Growth Chateau in Bordeaux .
In addition to new oak barrel, Patrick and Tim have maintained other traditional processes. This included frequent fining with fresh egg whites, repeated “barrel to barrel” gravity rakings and other costly and labor intensive techniques. Opus One is truly a successful vinous marriage. A delicate firm wine with both complexity and balance.
